10am - 12pm or 1.30-3.30pm
Seeley Copse, Goodwood Estate, Chichester, West Sussex, P018 8DW
Parent/carer and child morning for ages 18m to 8 years. Parents and siblings aged under 18 months attend for free.
The fun to be had....?
"A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood"...... come with us on an adventure and discover the Gruffalo trail through the woods, find where the fox, owl, snake and mouse live and we'll read the story under the old Yew tree deep in the woods!
"You'll taste good on a slice of bread" said the Gruffalo.....Gruffalo tails taste good too! We'll use tools to whittle sticks and cook curly pastry tails over the fire to enjoy with home-made jam or our local honey...yum...yum... and we won't leave the adults out, they'll be home-made Gruffalo crumble to enjoy!
Let's get creative and fill the forest with lots of tree Gruffalo faces made with clay, twigs, cones and leaves or you may want to make your favourite Gruffalo character to take home.
Finally, have a go at sawing a wooden disc to decorate with your favourite Gruffalo character and make into your very own woodland necklace.
If thats not enough...
Then why not....
Spend some time playing and exploring our woodland site, swing in the hammock, practise your balancing skills on our giant woodland balance beam and have a go on the swing.
We'll finish our session enjoying some marshmallows toasted over the fire, hot chocolate or squash before it's time to go home...all worn out.
Child tickets £14.00 includes all craft items to take home, drink and marshmallows.
Children under 18 months attend for free when accompanied by a full paying child.
Please contact us with any questions about the morning at firstname.lastname@example.org
What to bring and wear?
Please wear appropriate outdoor clothes for the time of year, waterproofs and sturdy outdoor footwear if necessary. Please wear long trousers even if the weather is hot and suncream and a hat as the sun can burn even through the tree canopy. We do provide snacks and a drink, but please feel free to send an extra drink for your child.
Who are running the sessions and what are your ratio's?
We run our sessions to a high adult to child ratio, normally 1:5 ratio and will be run by a first aid certified forest school level 3 trained leader, plus our regular volunteers. All our volunteers and forest school leaders hold current and relevant DBS certificates. These can be produced on request.
Where is Applefield Smallholding?
Applefield smallholding is a privately owned smallholding in Chalk Lane, Sidlesham. Detailed directions to the site will be emailed to all attendees the day before the session.
What are the facilities?
We have use of a composting toilet, running water and hand washing facilities. There is parking along the road or within the farmyard.
My child has food allergies
If your child has food allergies, please let us know in advance so we can discuss your child's individual needs and that we can cater for them on the day.
