There was much excitement today as the deputy prime minister Nick Clegg was visiting a Sheffield school where Gareth is delivering Forest School sessions. Mr Clegg was there for the opening of the newly completed Iron Age style round house, built in conjunction with dedicated staff from Heeley City Farm.

Once the round house had been declared open Gareth took the opportunity to talk to Mr Clegg about Forest Schools and the work he has been doing. Being well prepared with a pocket full of colourful string, Gareth was able to demonstrate to Mr Clegg how the children make friendship bracelets during sessions. Mr Clegg was able to leave with his very own friendship bracelet, made while chatting to Gareth, as the school children looked on ready to have a go themselves afterwards.

We love Forest Schools!

Nick Clegg has promised in the Liberal Democrat manifesto to give every child a fair start in life and we hope that Forest Schools will play an important part in delivering this.
