Gareth and I have been talking about a new area of blogging that we think would fit in with our Forest Schools website. Even though our Forest School is not up and running yet Gareth is delivering Forest School sessions as part of his job with Heeley City Farm. With small children I am not ready to get back to work but I would like some projects to keep me busy.
One of my projects will be this blog, which at first I plan to update weekly but if it starts to take off I will hopefully have enough material to post more often.
Last week we went out for a walk in the Peak District and purposefully chose a walk on Bridleway as we thought the walk would be suitable for the buggy. However, once we were there we discovered it really wasn’t. At this point we realised that it cannot just be us that has an issue with this, we would like to be able to have walks in the countryside that we can do as a family with small children but at the moment it is near impossible. Therefore we have decided to try some out for you (starting in and around Sheffield but hopefully expanding out further afield) and share them here.
We are also aware, especially with children who vary in age range, that it’s not always easy to get them all motivated to walk without the inevitable whining (teenage son anyone?). So I also plan to share ideas and small activities to keep them interested.
Just being outside is also lovely, and if you ever get to the woods and wonder, what do we do now, here you will also find activities and ideas to keep children entertained and fun things to do.
Finally, I am hoping to set an outdoor Parent & Toddler group in Sheffield and this will be the place to find out more about these plans and to see when and where it will be meeting once it is up and running.
So, there are lots of exciting things coming up, I hope you enjoy visiting and reading what we are doing!
