Session Responsibilities

Health and Safety

Our aim is to always make sure participants of Forest Schools are kept safe and free of injury or harm. We are both qualified to OCN Level 3 in Forest School Leadership with an outdoor first aid qualification. All activities have been risk assessed and we are fully insured.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Forest School leader:

  • Will be responsible for the running of the Forest School
  • Will ensure all staff are aware of policies and procedures
  • Will set a high standard and ensure others follow procedure
  • Will carry out risk assessments for all activities
  • Will direct procedures in case of emergency unless unable to do so due to injury
  • Will report any concerns or recommendations
  • Will behave in a professional manner with regard to users privacy and confidentiality

Support Staff:

  • Will follow the directions of the Forest School leader at all times
  • Will take all reasonable steps to ensure personal safety and of those around them
  • Will operate in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Will inform the Forest School leader of any concerns or recommendations7
  • Will behave in a professional manner with regard to users privacy and confidentiality
  • Will support the Forest School leader with the ethos of the Forest School

Students:

  • Will follow directions
  • Be respectful to all involved in sessions
  • Report any concerns they have to an adult

Visitors/Parents/Teaching Staff/Others:

  • Will follow the directions of the Forest School leader
  • Adhere to health and safety instructions
  • Support the Forest School leader in engaging the children
  • Report any concerns they may have
